PRODUCT CARE
Most of the products I make and sell are made from natural materials. To assure that your products last a lifetime you can keep them in good condition with just a few simple steps.

SPOOLS
By keeping your spool clean and maintained it will last a lifetime. Whether you live in a dry or wet climate your spool will require a little conditioning and oiling. If the wood becomes dry it becomes brittle. If it gets wet it can swell. The best remedy for any condition is to keep oil in the wood. This will keep moisture out and maintain the wood from drying out. To recondition your spool, remove all flies, lines and the elastic band. Apply a wood conditioning oil such as Caron & Doucet or you can also use Howard's Feed N Wax. These aren't your only options but they are what I use and recommend. Apply a light coat, let stand for 15-30 minutes and then wipe clean with a lint free soft cloth. You won't need to do this very often, once or twice a year is probably just fine. You will see a nice change in the color of your spool as it returns to its original color and condition. BOBBIN SPOOLS should you find your bobbin spool beginning to get "hairy" or having small catching splinters in it's surface, use a small piece of sandpaper to smooth the spot out. Then treat it with the above mentioned oils and conditioners. |

HOOK REMOVERS
The hook removers are a wonderful tool that requires very little maintenance. The leather connector ring is attached tightly with super glue and can be attached to a retracting reel, or be clipped on to your belt or bag for quick retrieval. The wooden handle can be treated and conditioned exactly like the instructions above for the spools. The leather will also benefit from exposure to the oils and conditioners. should the leather loop fall come out of the hole you can super glue it back in or contact me and I will replace the hook remover for free. |
