![]() "Sooner or later, we will have to recognize that the Earth has rights, too, to live without pollution. What mankind must know is that human beings cannot live without Mother Earth, but the planet can live without humans." - Evo Morales The temperatures have started to rise and with it the oportunity to try and tempt a trout waking from the deep cold waters. I have been out now a few times this spring season and have had mostly good days. There is a time in the spring where some of us have to remember again how to cast with accuracy and keep our mind to the tree tops around us as we cast. Usually a few trips out and a handful of lost flies is the norm as we return to the waters. It is exciting to be out on the streams again for sure. Spring is a reminder of the life that nature provides the earth. We are all here as part of the process of life. Like teenage offspring though we get cocky and think we know everything that is good for us. Mother Earth is a strict parent who when not listened to or appreciated, she will remind you who is boss. She quickly shows us the lessons of consequences for our actions. Will we ever mature enough to remember to take care of our mother Gaia the way that we should? I pushed this monthly edition to Mother's Day not so much with intent but through dumb luck and necessity. My life got real busy the last 3-4 weeks and I am reminded that I have a tendency to sometimes take on more than I should. My practice of keeping my projects to a reasonable minimum continues. The release date for this post is Mother's Day in the USA. A hallmark holiday for sure but one that we would have probably come up with without it. I like to think of it as a day to appreciate all things maternal. We sometimes forget the idea of the "Original Mother." She is a concept that we don't appreciate. So for this Mother's Day I am going to take some time to appreciate her and I hope you will too. Remember that without Her we would not not be here at all. Don't forget to honor your own mother as well, call her, send a card or a gift? Then take a few minutes to explore this months "hatch" of features.
